Here are some downloads and stuff that show why the Bible is cool or how to understand it.

Getting Started

First, try reading it: bible.oremus.org

Then I recommend something like Marcus Borg’s Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time. Not saying you have to agree with his viewpoints, but due to his particular personal journey and insight, it’s a great, fascinating read.

I wrote a little piece in school about understanding the Bible through its context. Check it out here: http://db.tt/ALXE0z7

If you need something a little less academic sounding, try this first person (imagined) narrative from “Matthew”, who wrote/pulled together what we call the Gospel of Matthew today: http://db.tt/7n8cxwL

I did some interpretation class work on a passage from Mark 7 if you are interested: http://db.tt/hM5xmLnS

Sermons

I’ll throw a few sermons down here, but seriously, who reads sermons?
